  • Colors are printed one at a time. Letterpress is great for 1 or 2 color jobs. Pantones only, no CMYK.

  • Letterpress is meant to be used for minimal ink coverage. Large solid areas are far from ideal.

  • Depth of impression can vary depending on the image coverage and the paper selection.

  • No halftones, no gradients, no photos. Solid colors only.

  • Vector or high quality tiff files only. No JPEGs please.

  • Width of lines must be a minimum of 0.25pt.

  • 6pt sans serif minimum font size. Reverse type minimum font size is 12pt or it can clog up.

Quantity

Since most of our products are printed in batch with fixed quantities, we do not offer quantities between the ones listed. If you need a larger quantity, please ask for a custom quote and we'll be happy to help.

Because of the printing process being used, all cards in a single set must be identical. For example, you cannot benefit the price of 500 cards for 2 different sets of 250 cards.

Foil Stamping

Foil stamping is the application of pigment or metallic foil to paper where a heated die is stamped onto the material, making it stick to the surface leaving the design of the die on the paper. We can combine foil with embossing to create a more striking 3D image. We offer 16 different colors of foil stamping.

Important - Please read

Because it requires a separate press run, a tolerance of +/- 1/64 inch is standard for registration of foil to printing graphic. Although we make all efforts to perfectly align the foil to the print, a shift of up to 1/64" may occur. Please keep that in mind when creating the artwork.

Please avoid very fine lines and small typeface. Be sure the space between the lines in the design is not too narrow.

Foil stamping cost includes a maximum surface of 3 square inch (For example, 3 sq. in. can be 2"X1.5" or 3"X1"). Oversize foiling requires special attention, is more time consuming and requires a larger die. Therefore, extra cost will apply for surface larger than 3 square inch.

We do not charge set-up fees or platemaking fees. Foil stamping dies are one-time use only, and the die is recycled after use.

Letterpress printing

Our letterpress cards are printed on a traditionnal printing press that is over 100 years old. Each color require a separate press run. With this method, a plate with a raised image is inked and pressed to the surface of the paper creating a relief printing similar to debossing.

Blind Debossing

Debossing applies pressure on the paper forcing the material down from the paper surface. Debossing doesn't show through the other side of the card. Depth of the impression may vary on the paper used and the nature of the design. Blind debossing is similar to letterpress printing without the use of ink.
